Role of Trust in Client Relationships

Trust is one of the master keys to unlocking true success in business. We’re in business to sell something. If we didn’t make sales we wouldn’t be able to keep our doors open. But when we approach a potential client as a potential paycheck rather than as someone we can help, we’re doing a disservice to that potential client and, ultimately, ourselves. We have a service to provide to our audience. An expertise that makes us a go-to person in our industry. That service can bring us the income we desire, but it also brings a good deal of responsibility to do what’s right by our clients and potential clients. As the business owner, the expert in our field, it’s our responsibility to vet the client to make sure product and client is a good fit. It’s up to us to ask the hard questions and provide the information and…

As an act of self-care, I now balance time for solitude and socializing. Practicing self-care and self-love is now an essential part of my life. As an act of self-care, I now choose wisely the people in my life. As an act of self-care, I now opt out of information overload and only allow in what I truly LOVE. As an act of self-care, I now set clear boundaries. I am becoming a healthier version of me I take time to put my own oxygen mask on…

My Experience with Affirmations

I was first introduced to affirmations in late 2003 by a co-worker of mine. She gave me an affirmation calendar by Louise Hay for Christmas. I wasn’t totally sure that I would like the messages, but the images on the affirmations were pretty, so I put the calendar on my desk. Soon after, I found myself reading the affirmations every day. Sometimes it was at the beginning of the day and sometimes it was right before I headed home for the day. It didn’t seem to matter what time I read the affirmations. What mattered was that I read them. They intrigued me and I started looking forward to the positive message each one delivered each day. I was hooked. Soon after, I began researching more about affirmations and even invested in a few affirmation CDs that I listened to on my way to and from work. Before long, I…

Teach Your Clients To Fish or Give Them The Fish: Which Business Model Is Right For You?

How you provide your services and expertise in your business matters. It could be that you want to teach your clients to fish, guiding them and teaching them how to do something on their own. Or maybe you’re more of a fisher yourself, and want to give your clients the fish. What’s the difference? A lot, actually. And your place in business, as well as your long-term goals, play a big part in whether you’re the fisher or the teacher. This topic recently came up in one of my Sparks Chats, which is part of my Sparks Mastermind Community. I thought it so relevant that I wanted to share it with all of you. Give Them the Fish You provide a service that essentially takes work off your clients’ hands. These are often known as “done-for-you services” that your clients and customers can’t (or don’t want to) do themselves. Many…

Ten Things Climbing A Mountain With Hubby Taught Me About Business, Goals And Being A Leader

The length of the journey does not matter. The duration of the hike does not matter. What matters is having a clear destination and staying motivated to get there. At the start, it’s common to think you need a plan. You may think you need a plan for the whole climb. But really, you only need a plan for the first part. When you reach that first milestone, stop and rest a moment. Create a plan for the next milestone. As you move up the mountain your perspective may shift. You may see things differently. You may have a new perspective on the outcome. Don’t waste time at the beginning planning for the end. Take one step at a time. Celebrate along the way. There will be times when you reach your planned marker. You’ll likely feel better than when you reached your previous marker. Don’t just pass this new rock. Don’t…

The Power of Clarity And Vision in Your Business

Having a vision for our business is essential. It helps guide us and allows us to really target our business and its message to the right audience. It’s something we can build on and grow into. But we don’t need to have a clear vision to start a business. And we don’t need to have a single passion or vision either. Many of us are stuck in trying to identify our passion before moving forward. We are spinning with ideas but lost in how to decide if they are the right ideas for us. I see women tossing between this strategy and that philosophy. I watch as women try this and try that while not really making any forward movement. Rather, many find themselves packing on self-doubt, confusion, frustration and feeling overwhelmed. It’s common for business owners to get stuck in questions like: What’s my niche? What’s my business name?…

Why I believe personal branding is the best when it comes to naming your business

Why I believe personal branding is the best

Coming up with a business name can be a struggle, but it doesn’t have to be. In fact, one of my favorite ways to name your business is to simply use your own name. This has become an increasingly popular answer to the naming challenge. When you use your name as your business name, your personal branding is more streamlined. You have the most flexibility as your business grows and develops, allowing you to rebrand and repackage your services more easily than if you are tied to a business name. That means you can save a lot of time and money when it comes to your website, domain, logo, business cards, etc. If you use a business name, everything needs to be redone! Your Name: A Flexible Fit Often, business owners feel like they need to name their businesses after their service or product, somehow incorporating it into their name.…

Why Choose Erin as Your Coach

Choosing a business coach can be difficult, especially with so many coaches out there. Ask for a recommendation for a coach in a Facebook group and you’re bound to get 40 or more responses. I’m active in Facebook groups but not as active as some. And while I respect other coaches’ online marketing, that’s not really my style. So I thought I’d take some time to let you know why I’m just a little bit different than the next coach and that might be the exact reason I should be your coach.  My programs and coaching activities are all original. No copycat stuff here. No “This is how my coach coached me, so this is how I do it.” In my 10+ years of coaching, I have crafted multiple activities that help guide my clients forward in their businesses, mindsets and lives. I’ve logged more than 1,000 hours of coaching time…

Business Women Are Using An Awesome List for Forward Momentum

Using An “Awesome List” for Forward Momentum

I’m a big believer in celebrating. In recognizing the awesome things that happen each week so we can see the forward momentum we’re making in our business and our life. We don’t have to accomplish huge things to move forward. It’s the little things, over time, that make the biggest impact. Years ago, while home from college and visiting my dad in his real estate office, I watched him write down everything he had done that day. From phone calls to business transactions to marketing tasks, he wrote it all down. I didn’t really understand what he was doing, but it did stick in my head that it’s just as important to write down what you’ve done as it is to write down what you need to do. The idea continued to grow. I love seeing a checked-off to-do list, but watching the list grow with new tasks and lines…

Finding Your Niche

Because I pride myself on having a specific niche, I’m often asked if, when I started my business, I had a clear vision of who I wanted to work with and where I wanted to make my mark. Having a specific niche is something that helps me focus my marketing but, more importantly, it helps me focus my services so I can craft my expertise and be the greatest benefit to my clients. Think about other professions that fill a specific niche and why that sole focus has its benefits. You wouldn’t want to go to a gynecologist who also fixes broken bones and once in awhile assists chimpanzees in giving birth. (At least, I hope not.) It’s okay to be multi-passionate. We just need to remember that a clear focus within our business or a common thread that helps to tie everything together is necessary. When our variety of…

Business coaching: What is it and what does it look like

With coaching being a non-regulated industry, there are likely many answers to the question, “What does a coach actually do?” as each coach has their own unique style, approach and philosophy. One coach can lean more toward consulting: a professional who provides expert advice in a particular area while another coach’s style could best be described as therapy: treatment intended to relieve or heal. One coach might take more of a counseling approach: assistance and guidance in resolving personal, social or psychological problems and difficulties while another takes more of a mentoring approach: a relationship in which a more experienced or more knowledgeable person helps to guide a less experienced or less knowledgeable person. Because the title “coach” has been used to describe all of the above and more, it can be difficult to understand what coaching really is and how it can benefit you and your business. Is it…

12 Business Coaching Myths

12 Myths About Business Coaching

I know that hiring a business coach is a big step for most. I hear it from my clients all the time. Either they don’t know what coaching is (or what it can do for their business) or they’ve had a bad experience with a coach in the past. I want to kick some myths of business coaching to the curb so you can feel more comfortable about making the decision to work with one. 1. Coaching is for women who are struggling in their business. Coaching is not about “fixing” you or your business. It’s about helping you to navigate toward more of what you want and less of what you don’t want. It’s about finding new possibilities and developing them into new opportunities to improve you, your life and your business. 2. A business coach only works with clients on their business. You are your business and your…

How to grow the business of your dreams

Have you ever stopped to reflect on your life and thought, “Yep. My life is exactly as I imagined it would be”? Likely the answer is a big, “No.” Does that make you a failure, that your life hasn’t turned out how you imagined it as a little girl? Absolutely not. It means that you’ve been able to grow and change and react to the events in your life in a positive way. And that’s a really good thing. The same is true in your business. Not everything is going to work out exactly as you planned when you started your business. Just because things are different than you expected, dreamed or intended doesn’t mean you did something wrong. Likely it means you did something right–and now your business is better for it. When I first started my business, I was pulled to host large, inspirational events. I remember thinking…

How my minimalist lifestyle looks in my business

Being a minimalist in business is a successful growth strategy It’s an interesting paradigm, being a simple woman, running a modest business and living a minimal lifestyle in the midst of the “Go Big, Be Bold, Make 6 Figures” mindset in business today. I’ve been in more than one networking meeting where another business coach speaks of how to get yourself out there more, attract more clients, build a better team and make more money.  Something really shifts in the room when it comes to you and you share a message almost in opposition to that. Some at the table will quickly jump to the judgment of “Oh, she’s a hobbyist” or “She must have a fear of being big” or, the one I hear most often, “She must have a block to making massive money.” Those who jump to judgments never stop to think that their judgment is…

During my Clarity Creator, Erin was able to take what I felt was disorganized thinking or a brain dump, and pull out key information, providing clarity.  We spent much of our time combing through client intake processes, examining what happens first, second, third etc. We also clarified who my clients are, and talked about building service packages. I gained a lot of clarity!

My session felt very comfortable and exceeded my expectations. If you’re thinking of working with Coach Erin, I would definitely encourage you to do so. The little time I've spent with Erin has been valuable and solidified my desire and decision to proceed further with coaching.
